How can I find out who is accessing my email without my permission and sending junk mail?

Periodically I will log onto my email and notice that I have received an email from myself. When I just it out it is junk mail. I'm not sure how someone would log into my email and send others junk mail, like for them to buy fake watches etc., and what do I need to stop that in the future. Thank you for any help.

You need to set your computer to delete all your "cookies" everytime you logoff your computer. Cookies are places you have been on the internet and some companies actually track where you go when you leave their site. Go to tools - click on the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Security section (it is the last section). Put a check mark in the box that says "Empty Temporary File when browser is closed".

Also, clear your history (this is where your cookies are) each time you logoff. It is also under Tools, and click on Internet - you will see the History button.

This should cut out alot of spam.
Reply:unless you know someone who sends out junk mail like that, it's much more likly you have a virus that is sending those out. Your best bet is going to be a virus scan of some kind.
Reply:Most probable reason is that Spammers used (spoof) your E-mail address to forge their mail (Spam) to others as a reliable sender.

E-mail address spoofing

Main article: E-mail spoofing

The sender information shown in e-mails (the "From" field) can be spoofed easily, though nowadays many domains have the Sender Policy Framework implemented, which helps prevent the e-mail spoofing. This technique is commonly used by Spammers to hide the origin of their e-mails and leads to problems such as misdirected bounces (i.e. e-mail spam backscatter). The spammers use a reliable "From" e-mail address so that they gain trust and authority, yet if the possible victim replies, the reply will be delivered to the spammer's e-mail address and not to the e-mail available on "From": reliable e-mail used in spoofing
