I received spam and the sender's email address was the same as my email address. How is this possible?

Do I need to change my password or email address? Is my email still secure? It is through Yahoo mail.

People impersonate other peoples' email addresses all the time. Just because you receive an email from "yourself" doesn't mean that you have been hacked. However, if you find that mail is marked as read even though you have not yet read it, or any other signs that someone else is logging into your email address, you may need to change your password.
Reply:Generally spam from your own address is the result of a Trojan virus. This can be solved by running a virus check on your computer.

If you don't have virus protection software, you can get free versions from AVG and Spy-bot, however neither are fully comprehensive. If you are looking for a long term solution I recommend CA Internet Security, however this is quite pricey and expires after a year.
