Why does my email automaticlly load when I start Internet Explorer?

When I open Internet Explorer my e-mail will automaticlly load, and when ever I return to my home page a new tab for e-mail opens and starts an new session, I have had as many as 5 e-mail tabs. How do I fix this so that only 1 e-mail tab is open?

its set to home page. go to google or whatever and there is a button somewhere so you can. "set as default browser" or "home page" you will find it in the my computer section or something its not that hard to find
