I want to have a password required to open my email. I have yahoo toolbar and all I have to do is click on "Y" and up pops "Hi Joanie" and anyone can just click right into my email? I want to protect it so no one can access it without a password?
How do I password protect my email so others can't see it?
open the control panel, then open the Add/Remove Programs and then remove the Yahoo Toolbar. Then open the web browser and type http://www.yahoomail.com and press on the Enter key to open the log on screen of the yahoo mails. When logging on make sure the tick box readind "keep me logged for 2 weeks" is unticked.
This should resolve your problem.
Reply:Uncheck the box on the sign-in screen and then log out. The next time you should be asked for your ID and password.
Reply:Probably your PC knows your Password and... automatically logs in when you click on "Y" on the toolbar.
You could change your password and when you log in next time not allow your PC to remember the password. Also remember to log out when you're ready emailing. Don't allow any PC to remember your new password.
Next you could set the time you normally stay logged in to a short period of time. It can be set between 2 weeks and 15 minutes. 15 minutes is very short, but when you set it to 30 minutes/1 hour, it automatically signs out when you should have forgotten to sign out manually.
Changing password and time to stay logged in cabn be done in the part Account information of options.
One small remark when it comes to emailing with a short log-in period... Yahoo could sign out while... you're writing a message. In order not to loose the text you've already written it might be useful to write your message in notepad first and use copy%26amp;paste when you're ready. That way you'll never lose the text.
Reply:There's an option called sign out for you to see to it that noone is able to get into your Y! account. When you click that option, then the data of your e-mail id is cleared for the viewers and you can have a safe breath.
